Meet Catherine, CFO
Catherine Walker is a dedicated mother of three—with two children in elementary school and one in middle school—who brings both lived experience and professional expertise to the challenges facing Eanes ISD. Catherine cares deeply about the community—the teachers, families, and kids who make Eanes special.
As a parent of three children with dyslexia—two of whom wear hearing aids—Catherine has lived through the Special Education system from the inside. She’s had to advocate, ask hard questions, and navigate IEPs. These experiences shaped her belief in transparency, opportunity, and putting students first.
Professionally, Catherine serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial and Risk Officer at CapMetro, overseeing a $700 million+ budget. In 2024, she was nominated by the Austin Business Journal as a CFO of the Year—recognition of her exceptional leadership in one of the region’s most visible public agencies.
She also brings a deep record of community service. Catherine serves on the board of ATX Kids Club, contributed to the Eanes ISD Special Education Parent Working Group, and has been a Cub Scout Den Leader and Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor—showing up with snacks, a clipboard, and a commitment to mentorship. She also served on the Eanes ISD Bond Oversight Committee, helping ensure responsible use of taxpayer dollars.
Catherine holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management with specializations in Finance, Marketing, and Strategy, and dual undergraduate degrees in Business Economics and Public Policy, and Spanish from Indiana University.
She first ran for school board in 2024, driven by quiet concern. Since then, that concern has grown into conviction: Eanes is facing serious challenges—growing deficits, enrollment declines, lower test scores, drastic cuts, and missed opportunities. Catherine is running again to bring clarity and courage to the board.
She believes in Eanes. She believes in community. And she believes we deserve a board that listens, plans, and leads with courage.
Catherine Walker’s leadership reflects five pillars: Financial Leadership, Transparent Governance, Educational Excellence, Top Teaching Talent, and Bipartisan Unity.
She represents the common-sense change Eanes ISD needs—and the heart-forward, results-driven leadership our families can trust.
